We're in Magazine. [Zhiqin, Lawrence, Jun, Kent, Henry]

Ah, one of those moments. It was really an unforgettable experience volunteering in SPCA. Before we decided to foster some of the puppies, it did not took us long time to consider about the responsibility and changes to our lifestyle. Or I could say, it was all decided withing a short period of time. Me, myself was very very kin to foster puppies, since I did not have any chance to have pets in my home back in Malacca. So, since I'm staying out for my studies, was wanted to have a different experience by having a pet. I started to ask Lawrence, whether he wants, he looks pretty positive in it. And few days later, gave Ms Jacinta a call. And there we pick up our first batch of three puppies. We named them, Belle, Apacer and Rocky. [:-)]
We really enjoyed ourselves with the puppies, and later on we fostered another 4 puppies. We named them, Molly, Ricky, Lily and Eddie.
The most saddening part was actually after three months, we were all there during roadshows to get them a permanent home, to be adopted by family. Deep inside my heart, we feel very reluctant to give them away. But it would be best for them.

I wasn't being able to sleep well without the puppies, cause I'm sleeping in the room near the window, and I could always hear the puppies playing around when I'm going to bed. However, when they are gone. It was all very quiet and I'm not used to it. Writing on this post, reminds me of a lot back then, wondering how are they doing now.

*Cool, missing those puppies.

Things That Girl Don't Realize

Got this forwarded email from a few of my friends. At some point, its quite true. :-)

____________________________________________________________________

1. Guys are more emotional than you think, if they loved you at one point, it'll take them a lot longer than you think to let you go, and it hurts every second that they try.

2. Guys may be flirting around all day, but before they go to sleep, they always think about the girl they truly care about.

3. Guys go crazy over a girl's smile.

4. Guys will do anything just to get you to notice him.

5. Guys hate it when you talk about your ex-boyfriend or ex love-interest. Unless they're going for the let-her-complain-to-you-and-then-have-her-realize-how-wonderful-and-nice-you-are method.

6. A guy who likes you wants to be the only guy you talk to.

7. Boyfriends need to be reassured often that they're still loved.

8. Guys don't care how gorgeous you are, if you're a bitch Goodbye.

9. Giving a guy a hanging message like 'You know what?!..uh...nevermind..' would make him jump to a conclusion that is far from what you are thinking. And he'll assume he did something wrong and he'll obsess about it trying to figure it out.

10. Girls are guys' weaknesses.

11. Guys are very open about themselves.

12. If a guy tells you about his problems, he just needs someone to listen to him. You don't need to give advice.

13. A usual act that proves that the guy likes you is when he teases you.

14. Guys love you more than you love them.

15. Guys use words like hot or cute to describe girls. They rarely use beautiful or gorgeous. If a guy uses that, he loves you or likes you a whole hell of a lot.

16. No matter how much guys talk about butts and boobs, personality is key.

17. Guys worry about the thin line between being compassionate and being whipped.

18. Guys think WAY too much. One small thing a girl does, even if she doesn't notice it can make the guy think about it for hours, trying to figure out what it meant.

19. If the guy does something stupid in front of the girl, he will think about it for the next couple days or until the next time he spends time with the girl.

20. If a guy looks unusually calm and laid back, he's probably faking it and is spazzing inside.

21. When a guy says he is going crazy about the girl, he really is. Guys rarely say that.

22. When a guy asks you to leave him alone, he's just actually saying, 'Please come and listen to me.'

23. ,b>If a guy starts to talk seriously, listen to him. It doesn't happen that often, so when it does, you know something's up.

24. When a guy tells you that you are beautiful, don't say you aren't. It makes them want to stop telling you because they don't want you to disagree with them.

25. When a guy looks at you for longer than a second, he's definitely thinking something.

26. A guy has more problems than you can see with your naked eyes.

27. Don't be a snob. Guys can be intimidated and give up easily.

28. Guys talk about girls more than girls talk about guys.

29. Guys really think that girls are strange and have unpredictable decisions and are MAD confusing but somehow are drawn even more to them.

30. A guy would give his right nut to be able to read a girl's mind for a day.

31. No guy can handle all his problems on his own. He's just too stubborn to admit it.

32. Not all guys are jerks. Just because ONE is a jackass doesn't mean he represents ALL of them.

33. Even if they refuse it all guys are ticklish on the ribs.

34. Guys love neck rubs and if he lets you keep doing it ..it means that he really likes you or his neck really hurts.

35. When a guy sacrifices his sleep and health just to be with you, he really likes you and wants to be with you as much as possible.

36. Even if you dump a guy months ago and he loved you he probably still does and if he had one wish it would be you to come back into his life.

*Very interesting. :-) Especially for girls, you might be able to learn something here. [haha]

Uncle Wong @ Foster Home

It was another bright sunny day, woke up early in the morning, with my housemates[jun, ryan, chew and lawrence], and we are on a mission today. Community service, by taking the children from a foster home for a day out in the bird park. It's a good time spending with my old housemates, since this should be the only time I could spend more time and tighten our bonds again after the dissapearance of me for a long time.
We arrived at the foster home about 9am, its named as "Rumah Shalom: A Foster Home For Caring and Sharing". Then, we went around searching for the kid that we are each assigned to. Lawrence and Jun, was given responsibility to take care of Asteria, while Ryan and Chew's was Esther. And me, was a fourteen years old kid, named Sam. Nice kid, smart and well dressed.
I started quite badly for the day. Was putting too much attention in taking good photographs, rather than putting more attention to break the ice between me and Sam. During the travelling in the bus, May[friend of mine, Winston partner] told me I should try to talk to him[cause I wasn't talking to him, but Sue Ern instead, she was telling me about TOA]. Well, May was true, cause I seem pretty cruel just to throw Sam aside, sitting near the side and look out into the window. Immediately, went to sat beside him and just started to talk about random topic, regarding how was life in the house, his interest, his dreams...etc. It turned out to be a pretty constructive conversation.
We arrived at the KL Bird Park about 11.30am. Took a large group photo before entering the park. The kids are happy, and a lot of people are watching as the walked past. As we form ourself into smaller groups before we enter the park, I think Jun[started with calling me "Uncle Wong", if not wrong], and some of the kids started to call me uncle Wong. Thought it might sound nothing to anyone, but at that moment, I feel really different[You know, the feeling of being more elderly? haha...speechless]. I later on urge my group of members to take Uncle Wong's Group photo.
From top left, Chew, Uncle Wong, Jun, Lawrence, Jason, May, JJ, Middle row: David, Ryan, Adrian, Ester, Winston, Jennifer, Bottom Row: Alexander, Sam, John2, and Titus.

Then, we enter the park with full heart to make the children happy. The kids were initially very attracted to some of the birds, like the Great Hornbill, Eagle, Parrots[like the one from faber castell], Owl[like the ones from Harry Potter], peacocks. However, they get even more excited in the hunt of getting large feathers for collections. I was pretty amazed with some of my friends that they actually give so much attention, care and patience to the kids as I definitely never seen before during studies. It hit me straight way that these are some of the guys and girls that will take good care of their children when having their own family. [Maybe I jumped tod fast to conclusion for this one experience, but yeah I am really convinced.]
Me and Sam
Lawrence and Asteria
David and [err...forgotten his name]
Sam

Seeing we putting those smile on the kids faces really made me feel that we are so much more than what we are. Those smile which had been taken away since they were left in that home, and no one to depend on, but only to themselves. I'm glad we had bring them one day of cheers and joy. After a tiring day at the bird park, we had our farewell late lunch at McDonalds.
Another group photo in front of McDs
Me with Nigel

After sending them back to the home, we, the childrens had a hardtime to say goodbyes. However, as said, everything will have an end. We said our final good byes to the children and leaved with an unforgettable memories and experience. As for me, I've all the photos, to remind me of this wonderful day. :-)

Albert's Appearance @ FOM Prom Night

A topic I do not wish to write about. Was feeling really out yesterday. [Weird~] FOM, or also known Faculty of Management, of Multimedia University had organised its annual prom night at Sunway Resort yesterday[24th April'09].
Was thinking it would be like a usual night I attended when I was in secondary school. So, I did not really put much attention on my attire. A long slack, button shirt, and a pair of sport shoes would do for me, typical "zhiqin". Always having the same clothing for most of the time. Anyways, I did not think much about it at that time.
After I packed and arranged some of my stuff in the new room I rented, for my stay during my study years in TOA, I went to wait at Calvin's house over in Cyberjaya as he will be going with me. However, things doesn't goes really smoothly. He seems like not really in the mood to attand such event at the moment. Yet, he had no choice since our group of friends were really hoping he would join, in which I really do think its a little pushing the limits. He went in a very "unwilling" mood, that's what I can see.
Apparently when I arrived at the entrance of the ballroom, I deeply regretted, and infinite drop of self-esteem when I see myself as the most contrast attired person compared to the others. [~~~] Everyone is very well dressed, and [err] it looks like everyone is getting "married". And I came with a .... .... [speechless, & sweat]. Well, at least there's someone accompanied me, Calvin just join us with a T-shirt and shorts. [cool]
Not having a very good first time experience, so will probably consider trice for the next prom. I'm not suitable for this kind of event. Probably considering joining in as a reporter. [haha]
This is the people on my table, elegant and high-classed aren't they. Most of their attire and newly bought, mine was from my closet, a multipurpose buttoned t-shirt. Sweet couple, I just think both of them are meant together. Nice people to hang out with. Very friendly.
Met a friend, who ais also a Malaccan!
I should be very noticeable in this photo, how bright am I. [... ... swt]

Strawberry with Whipped Cream, Topped with Vanilla Ice Cream

The Strawberries from Cameron Highland was nice to see, but hard to swallow. [:p] It was very sour, the only thing is to eat it along with sweet dessert like ice cream. Steven ended up blended it, and made it a drink[Strawberry Milk Shake].

Malaysian School Uniform

This question had came across my mind for quite some time, I was wondering based on what factor, that our ministry of education determine the colours of our school uniform. Not trying to complain, but it was rather a very bad choice of colours to me. Let's put primary school uniform aside, since I do not think we have any sense of fashion at that age yet. And even if there is, I do not think it wouldn't have that much of a impact to kids.
Malaysia Government Secondary School Uniform
On the other hand, secondary school students are different. The current colour the uniform pant is in dark green [or also known as "shit green"]. No comments on the shirt. But definitely, shit green pants doesn't look good for anyone. If the reason was so that it wouldn't get dirty easily, why not dark blue, or black?[because it looks like a waiter?] While for the female uniform, with a apron-looked skirt, light blue in colour? If its for covering the front part, I totally understand it, but why light blue? Somehow, I think it made the girls feel more insecure.[girls, I think you know why]

Well, the thing is, if changing the colours would make the students look good, feel good, and comfortable, then why not? At least the school would not look like a prison, but a more professional environment for the students to study in. Not to mention some of the schools wanted the students name to be sew on their shirts. That's worst, it looks like a barcode numbers for the prisoner. I would prefer a nametag instead.

Comparing ourself to the uniforms in Japanese Schools, everyone wants to have one. The guys looked smart and the girls look nice.
Japanese School Uniform for female
Japanese School Uniform for male

I'm not suggesting we should have the same uniform as the japanese, but just as an good example for a better designed uniforms. Till now, I'm still unsure with the reasons, why the government decided on those designs. [Again, not blaming them, but hoping to be fill in after this] So, do anyone have any clue for why malaysian students are wearing such awful colours?

Charise Pempengco

Was watching Oprah on the other day, and something really caught my attention. I bet most of us here would definitely know Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, but Charise? Charise Pempengco. Here, let me bring you some of her info. [She sings with Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, ...more top singers]

Charise was born in the Philippines, not having a very good childhood life. Her dad was a alcoholic, and almost took her mom away from her during one of the bad days. Luckily her neighbor came just in time to rescue them, when they heard screaming and shouting. It definitely leaved a very deep scare in her memories, cause she can't hold her tears when she was telling her stories during Oprah's show. At the age of 4[if I'm not wrong], her mom was preparing a meal at the kitchen, somehow she heard someone singing. Thought it was from the radio, but later she just realised that it was Charise singing. Since then, Charise started to participate in competitions, just to get some prize money to feed her family.
She was then being noticed through Youtube, which then Oprah contacted David Foster to do something for this little girl. She was then invited into the show, and meet with her all time idol, Celine Dion. It was all a shocked for her, when Celine Dion invited her to sing with her during her stage performance in Madison Square Garden. She burst in tears, jumping in joy.

There's a real touching story behind this 16 year old child. I drop a few tears when listen to her singing. Splendid! Love "The Prayers", when she duet with Andrea Bocelli.

Road Trip 2009 @ Cameron Highlands

First thing I would like to advice everyone, before I start writing on this post, "Do not drive to Cameron Highlands at 5am in the morning!".
[phew] It was a whole 2 hours drive with cold sweat dripping down my cheeks, and a tensed up brain and body. I thought the drive up there should be much simpler and less stressful by using the new road, via Simpang Pulai. However, as I drove further into the hill road. It was dark. No road lamps along the way. And it seems like I'm the only car heading up. It got worst later on, it started to rain, and the mist started to thicken up. Jean and Steven was asleep at that moment, it was really spooky and i drove through the mist. I've been considering whether I should wake them up, so that we can look at the road together, safer in a way. Furthermore, I'm really afraid of shining my headlights on the wrong thing[~~~]. Manage to wake Jean up, but Steven was dead asleep[haha]. About two hours of full concentration driving, we finally arrived at the peak of Cameron Highlands, Brinchang! I drove straight head to Tanah Rata, since there's more shops for breakfast there, I'm starving... Once I got a parking space for my car, I past my keys to Steven, ran into a mamak stall, and these is my breakfast.
Both of them still half sleeping, and Jean was too cold to say anything. Steven still looking pretty blurr. [:p] Well, after a good breakfast, we started to look for a decent place to overnight. We asked Parkland Hotel, a one room apartment cost us RM200 a night. We did not agreed on the hotel straight away, we moved on to Strawberry Park Resort which I've a very good impression on that resort. It will cost us approximately RM300 for a night, inclusive of a RM80 voucher[which we can use it for meals in the hotel later]. Then we stopped by Cameron Highlands Hotel, very high class, the hotel was well designed with antique furniture. I was shocked when I asked for the rates at the receptionist counter. They only accept USD, for the superior room(smallest) USD250++. [Freaked me out] However, still acting cool and walked out. Strawberry Park Resort Reception

The last hotel we went to check on the price is The Equatorial Hotel, definitely is beyond our budget for such high class stay. In the end, after much of a hesitation, discussion, and arguement, we decided to have a night in Strawberry Park Hotel. I was told by the receptionist that I can only check in earliest at 12pm. So, we had no choice, but to drag ourselves to few tourism spots to spend some time. Steven noticed that there is a chinese temple nearby, check it out on the GPS, and [bloom] just follow the GPS. We went in the temple, pay our respect, and we spend about 30minutes outside for some photos. [Oh..] The photo of the fishes is taken in this temple, water pond.

Since we have no where to go afterthat, I suggested we head to the hotel, and maybe just have a rest at the lobby. Well, didn't which part of us charmed the receptionist, he[looked pretty sissy to me] allowed us to check in early. And it was just 10am. I took a nap, but I think Steven and Jean couldn't fall asleep, instead they watched tv. I just take a sleep whenever I can.

After lunch, we visited some strawberry farm. Wanted to pluck the strawberry ourselves, but too bad it wasn't the best season for plucking yet. Most of the strawberries are green. Walked around, took some photos.
Back to the hotel, took a long nap. Woke up and we start preparing for our grand dinner. Self-prepared-in-house steamboat. It was fabulous, scrumptious, extraordinary...
Actually what we done there is illegal, not allowed to cook inside the hotel. But [nah] who cares at that moment. It was all great. Hope I won't get sued here. Check out the video below, by Host Steven, and Co-host Jean!

Road Trip 2009 @ Ipoh

Again, we overslept. Check out time at 10am. Straight after that we head for the "Jie Mei Char Kuay Teow". The previous trip when I was there with my family I had to wait nearly one hour before a plate of kuay teow I ordered is served. This time, can't believe it, the shop is empty.
After breakfast, went to get some souvenirs. While on the way to the Ferry terminal, I stopped by the War Muzeum to get some photos there. We did not enter into the museum, but took some photos with it's surrounding buildings.
That's our last destination in Penang, then we enjoy the ferry ride back to butterworth to head back to Ipoh.

The first destination in Ipoh is the original Old Town White Coffee! Even though this shop has franchise all over the country, they still preserve the old and traditional style of serving their coffee and most importantly, its price. Only RM1.20 for hot, RM1.50 for cold.
We are supposed to take a stroll at the Japanese Garden at Penang, however, it started to rain when we are there. So, we stopped by at Ipoh Parade and have a walk inside. [Swt] It's really sweat, not too sure why, I think the management is trying to save some energy, cause it was really warm inside the mall. We spend some time at the Bowling Centre. When we are bowling, the both side lanes was occupied by Perak State Players, their score easily reached above 200. And we are like ... [speechless].

About 7pm or 8pm, we went to the famous beansprout chicken shop. The one that I usually went is closed on that day, so we have no choice but to give the opposite shop a try. They are also selling the beansprout chicken, and their doing good business on that day since the opposite shop is close. We waited for quite some time. But when we are waiting, there is a couple, both age at around above late 30's asked whether they can share seats with us, cause it was full house. It was fine for us. Anyway, one of the is from Germany, another is from Subang, Kuala Lumpur. Both of them were here for a company meeting, so wanted to catch a meal in Ipoh before heading back. We had a good talk and they were being very very nice and friendly. When we wanted to pay for our meal, they insisted to pay for us as well. We were so "paiseh" and again ... [speechless]. [Thanks to Ms. Vivian, if she read blogs]
Later that night, we spend our night at McDonalds before we embarked on our journey to Cameron Highlands on the next morning. Tired~

Road Trip 2009 @ Penang

Planning to take shift driving on the way to Penang, each of us take a 2 hours drive, ended up we kept talking and none of us can actually fall asleep in the car. We arrived at Penang at around 6am. Since there is no where to go, and all of us are very tired and sleepy. We head to our first planned destination, "The House of Dim Sum" [点心之家] to have breakfast. Apparently, we are their very first customer, and they are not ready to serve any food yet. So, we ordered a pot of tea, I mentioned chinese tea. However, what came to our table is really weird~. Not too sure why they mixed the chinese tea leaves with chrisanthemum, the tsate was awful. [No complaints, we just drink it].
After a miserable waiting time for 45 minutes, we were finally served with their delicious dim sum.
The whole meal cost us at about RM36. It's very worthy, our stomach feels like exploding. Next, we head towards our hotel, Tune Hotel. While Steven is doing the checking-in work, I get my car parked, unloading some of the luggage down. Then, when I'm waiting for Steven, who is waiting in line at the receptionist counter, I met Mr Tony, Tony Fernandes. It was a coincidence that on that day itself, Mr Tony was there to officiate their newly opened Tune Hotel at Penang. So, after hesitating for some while, I approached him and asked "Sir, can I take a photo with you please?" He replied "Yes, of course!" He also asked whether I'm a guest of this hotel, and how was the stay. Actually we haven't checked in yet. Later on, more and more press arrived, and they are waiting for the arrival of Y.B. Lim Guan Eng.
Too bad we can't check in yet till 2pm. We decided to visit a few places so that we don't waste the time, but we are already very tired at that moment. The first destination that we went is the botanical garden. We walked in about 500meters, took some photos and head back to the car again.
Then we head to Kek Lok Si, a buddhist temple, climbed the pagoda instead of the usual route of taking the inclined lift to the top.

When we are able to check in the hotel, we took a nap just to compensate from then sleep we lost yesterday night during the drive from Kuala Lumpur. As expected, we overslept, and by the time we reach Batu Feringghi beach, it was already evening, and the sun is going down. However, still manage to get some good photos.
